Adidas To Reward Olympic Medalists With 3-D-Printed Sneakers

Adidas-sponsored Olympic medalists will be among the first people to receive the brand’s 3-D-printed Futurecraft sneakers, first seen in October.

Adidas has announced that Olympic athletes who bring home medals in the Rio Games will be honored with a black colorway of the sneakers, which make use of a Primeknit upper and a 3-D-printed midsole and heel cup.

As if the sneakers themselves weren’t already an outstanding prize, each recipient’s pair will feature metallic accents on the laces that correspond to the athlete’s respective medal.

Unless you’re an athlete in Rio, you probably won’t have a chance to acquire these 3-D-printed sneakers anytime soon, but there will be an opportunity to pick up some Olympic-themed Adidas sneakers in the future.

Next week, Adidas will release the Ultra Boost “Olympic Medal” pack, featuring three pairs representing the bronze, silver and gold medals.
