‘Kanye Loves Kanye’ Mural In Australia Removed

Australian artist Scott Marsh received major media attention after he painted a mural titled “Kanye Loves Kanye” in Sydney.

The mural is a riff on a photo of hip-hop star Kanye West and wife Kim Kardashian kissing on the 2015 Grammy Awards red carpet. In place of Kardashian’s face is West’s face.

According to a report from ABC Australia, someone from West’s management team contacted Marsh requesting he remove the mural shortly after it went up on March 19. Apparently, Marsh was offered a “pretty decent chunk of money” to take it down.

Marsh countered and asked for $100,000 and a lifetime supply of West’s Yeezy Boost sneakers. The artist put up a print of the mural for sale via online art store 1xRun for $100,000. Someone did purchase the print, but Marsh could not disclose whether it was West’s team.

This week, Marsh posted a photo as he painted over the mural.

“It’s been real Yeezy,” he wrote.

It’s not known whether Marsh received the Yeezy sneakers. The mural was next to one depicting Kardashian’s now-infamous nude phone selfie painted by artist Lush.

West has still not responded publicly on the matter.
