The 23rd annual QVC Presents “FFANY Shoes on Sale” charity gala will recognize the work of two notable individuals: footwear designer Edgardo Osorio and activist and celebrity chef Sandra Lee.
[And update: E-tailer Shopbop will be honored as well.]
Osorio, who founded his Aquazzura label in 2011, has been named by FFANY as the Designer of the Year for his distinct creative vision and rapid rise in the business.
And Lee will receive the Jodi Fisher Humanitarian Award, which recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions in the fight against breast cancer.
Perhaps best known for her “Semi-Homemade Cooking” show on the Food Network, Lee was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2015. After undergoing a double mastectomy, she is now cancer-free, but has made a point to share her story publicly in order to raise awareness.
During its 23 years, the FFANY Shoes on Sale breast cancer fundraiser has donated roughly $50 million to hospitals and foundations dedicated to research and treatment.
The 2016 gala will be held Oct. 25 at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York. And on Oct. 20, QVC will air a live three-hour broadcast during which it will sell roughly 180 different shoe styles at half the suggested retail price.
To help raise awareness for the fundraiser, actress-turned-designer Zendaya is serving as the 2016 PSA spokesperson. Ads are appearing now online and in major magazines and feature Zendaya modeling shoes from her eponymous brand, Daya by Zendaya.
