Daniel Lara, 14, sported the footwear that made him a social media star while serving as a correspondent for “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on the red carpet at the MTV Movie Awards.
Alongside his friend Josh Holz, 16, who wore the label’s black-and-white Old Skool laceups, the California teens interviewed celebrities for the comedienne’s Snapchat account.
In February, the boys were catapulted to e-fame after Holz filmed Lara’s outfits daily on Snapchat and name-dropped his slip-on white Vans, wryly adding, “Damn, Daniel! Back at it again with the white Vans.”
The video has received more than 45 million views and landed the teens a guest spot on DeGeneres’ program, where Lara received a lifetime supply of Vans sneakers.
Lara then donated the footwear to Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital.
Time magazine ranked the duo among the 30 Most Influential People on the Internet in March along with Kanye West, DJ Khaled and other footwear influencers.
