Sophia Webster Unveils First Standalone Boutique in London

Sophia Webster will be opening the doors to her first standalone boutique in London, this Saturday.

Set on 124 Mount Street, Webster will be down the road from former boss Nicholas Kirkwood’s boutique for whom she worked as a design assistant, as well as from a host of other London-based designers such as Simone Rocha, Christopher Kane and Roksanda.

The 400-square-foot space will stock Webster’s seasonal footwear collections, her recently-launched handbag range, as well as dedicated evening, mini and bridal collections.

The designer, who was announced as the winner of the BFC/Vogue designer fashion fund earlier this year, has been designing much of the store herself, using virtual 3D technology provided by local East London company, Studio XAG.

Her colorful, spirited aesthetic is evident in every aspect of the new space; a neon butterfly decorates the front window paying tribute to the designer’s popular Chiara style, pastel pink and purple stools are scattered around the store while the ceiling features flamingo sculptures.

Among the highlights is also a bespoke glass blown chandelier created in collaboration with Rocco Borghese.

Webster was meticulous about every aspect of the store, curating the in-store playlist alongside her longtime collaborator DJ Katy B, who has also created a playlist which customers can listen to while shopping online.

The boutique aims to become an extension of the designer’s established e-commerce business, enhancing customer experience and providing synergy when it comes to stock.

“I have long dreamt of a physical destination for those who already follow and support my brand online and through social media so they can truly step into my world. Having a permanent retail outlet will bring me an insightful new connection with my customers, and the process of designing the interior has helped me to refine and create a blueprint for future shops and spaces,” said Webster.
