Classic Italian men’s brand Santoni has debuted its fall ’16 collection. Shown during Milan Men’s Fashion Week, the latest offering includes delectable croc embossing and new chisel-toe shapes — modern elements that require a certain step out of one’s comfort zone but won’t scare customers completely away.
“This collection is a hymn to a future full of memories,” said CEO Giuseppe Santoni. “Our products are conceived for the modern man who looks for a contemporary style that offers unparalleled craftsmanship with a neat twist.”
Standouts included embossed monkstraps in rich blue leather, two-tone kiltie loafers — and yes, even luxe high-top sneakers in burnished brown leather. The irony of a luxury sneaker is you almost don’t want to wear it.
Instead of focusing on radical new shoe shapes this season, Santoni zeroed in on material plays and various crafting techniques. And boy, were there luxe materials: crocodile, ostrich and matte python all made an appearance. A number of styles also had sheared-fur lining, as well as the brand’s iconic orange soles.
“The unique designs of this collection are enhanced by our unmistakable mastery in color: deep and timeless shades of burned brown, burgundy, blue,” said Santoni. “Classic must-have shapes have a modernized interpretation with the use of geometric cuts, raw edges and innovative juxtaposition of materials.”
