Editor’s Picks: Pre-Fall ’16 Standout Shoes From The FN Fashion Team

The average Footwear News editor’s iPhone photo gallery holds about 10,000 shoes and the secrets to where footwear will go next.

As the pre-fall ’16 market winds down, FN took a scroll through just some of the shoes that caught our eye. Many designers don’t allow social sharing for fear of copycats, but in this information age, that’s quite pointless. If a Louboutin diehard wants a peek at the latest derby or pump, he/she will find a way.

Here are 16 shoes you really should see.

Designers as disparate as Tory Burch, Philip Plein, DSquared2 and new label Frances Valentine are represented. These pairs were chosen for their point of view and newness for the respective brand, signaling a style shift that will be reflected in the upcoming fall ’16 runways.

The pre-collections are always an interesting mix of wearable and wholly original ideas. Because of this, and the fact that these collections don’t get quite as much press or exposure as full-season offerings, the shoes will still feel fresh by the time they hit the sales floor a whopping five months from now. Customers like that, as a quizzical “where did you get those shoes” is often taken as the highest form of shoe flattery.
