Prada Makes Splash At Saks With New Shoe Boutique

Prada and Saks Fifth Avenue are partnering in a major way. The legendary high-end label has just opened a new shop-in-shop at the New York flagship.

The space will exclusively offer Prada’s made-to-order Décoletté program in North America and also carry other special styles.

The new shop, located on Saks’ 8th floor 10022-SHOE floor, features velvet sofas positioned in front of Prada’s green fabric-clad display niche. Steel and crystal tables along with beige carpeting are also incorporated throughout the space.

To celebrate the opening, Prada crafted six window displays inspired by its latest collection.

The initiative is part of an ambitious revamp at Saks, which has put front and center in its expansion efforts. Last year, the department store opened a Manolo Blahnik space, marking the designer’s entry into the flagship.

“It’s terribly exciting to finally be present at Saks in New York City,” Blahnik told FN at the time. “It has always been one of my favorite department stores.”

Under president Marc Metrick and new chief merchant Tracy Margolies, Saks has announced several major moves in the past year — from a new store at Brookfield Place in downtown Manhattan to its first shoe-only concept in Greenwich, Conn.
