It seems comical to start planning for next fall — the spring leaves have only begun budding, after all — but one can never be too prepared in the fashion world. The fall ’16 men’s shows offered a number of new footwear trends, and we’re highlighting the top ones you’ll want to be buying next season.
1. Cozy Shearlings
The latest crop of outdoorsy footwear is fit for adventure-seekers. Shearling accents, in a lining or decorative tongue, make for a cozy step into fall.

2. Rad Trad
Not for the timid: Classic styles get a new, bolder identity. Dive in with impactful details such as hand-painted prints, oversized kilties or elastic strapping instead of laces.

3. Sharp Shooters
Are rounded toes on the outs? All signs point to yes. Designers went for a hard edge via chiseled and walled shapes. In stark white or silver metallic, these styles are definitely rock-star ready.

4. Pink Panthers
Real men wear pink, from saturated bubblegum to softer blush tones. Shades of the hue appeared on sneakers and combat boots.

5. Gent’s Loafers
Trusty loafers are refurbished with embroidered prints, metal studding or fur accents. While traditional in shape, the finishings are anything but.

6. Gym Rats
Sport-inspired shoe shapes get twisted and completely reworked. Athletic looks took inspiration from boxing boots, varsity stripes and, yes, even ice skates.
