Loewe’s fall ’16 shoes made our Paris Fashion Week Top 20 roundup, and now we have a closer look at the runway shoes designed by creative director Jonathan Anderson. Mule pumps had architectural heels, while strappy sandals were pointed.
The Spanish luxury house presented one of the stronger collections of the season with textural play — fringed hems, crocheted dresses — and cinched silhouettes. The shoes here were equally as strong. A sequined mule in collapsible leather back rendered it almost into a Babouche silhouette, save for the thin, low rectangular heel.
An embossed leather penny pump had the same slip-on backing, as well as an angled architectural heel. The texture here was a nice tie-in to the ready-to-wear.
Meanwhile, the strappy pumps had a golden grommet on the front — the house’s signature color, yes, but otherwise it was a style that failed to stand out or offer any sort of direction. Especially compared to the other styles.
