15 Totally Unnecessary Luxe Flip-Flops For The Beach

A $700 flip-flop never seemed so right. For the summer ’16 season, luxury designers took on the tricky flip-flop and finished it in a variety of high-end finishes.

Considering designer brands such as the Saint Laurent and Vetements have made the normcore look their signature, it was only a matter of time before flip-flops were given a fashion spin. Here we saw labels design it in an embossed leather treatment, or embellish it with oversized crystals.

Valentino transferred its iconic Rockstud studding onto a jelly flip-flop. Gucci made use of a metallic footbed and striped upper, with whimsical appliquéd stars. Louis Vuitton used its monogram print as all-over perforating.

Los Angeles-based brand Newbark has been making high quality sandals since its inception (meaning even though the price points are high, you’re at least paying for quality — not the brand name).

Frye’s knotted flip-flop style is an investment as well, but made with Italian leathers.
