The Craziest Runway Shoes From Milan Fashion Week

Feathers and bows and rhinestones, oh my. The runway shoes at Milan Fashion Week proved to be an essential lesson in peacocking. Designers embraced a dash of gaudy this season, incorporating novelty footwear finishes into their collections.

At Prada, designer Miuccia Prada reworked classics with new flair. Strappy sandals had shaggy feather boa trims that matched the ready-to-wear. Alessandro Michele’s latest Gucci collection also looked to the label’s signature styles, updating its horsebit loafers with new platform heels (some embellished with pearls).

At Fausto Puglisi, the shoes — which are a new category for the brand — went for maximum impact. Thigh-highs and ankle sandals had oversized pink bows and rushed satins — as though a princess were to hit up the club. Equally as vampy were Moschino’s thigh-highs, which were branded with its logo.

Meanwhile, at Fendi, Karl Lagerfeld debuted striped sock booties that had sweater-like finishes (think Fair Isle knitting or varsity striping).
