Church’s is experimenting for spring ’17, but not too much to scare its classic customers away. The English brand debuted its latest collection at Milan Men’s Fashion Week and it features a number of updates on its core styles.
Spectator brogues were given a spring touch with colored leather panels near the lace eyelets. Leather penny loafers were also done in colored leathers include a taupe brown, a new colorway for Church’s. Perforated brogues were done in a more modernized white.
The Shannon kilties silhouette was reworked into a new supple leather boot. Lace-up derby styles were given a thick flatform sole, a style Church’s debuted during last year’s Olympics. This season, as an homage, the insole features a Union Jack flag print.
Watch on FN
Overall, Church’s made attempts at freshening up the collection. But barely. Compared to brands like Berluti or Fratelli Rossetti, more is needed to stand out in a competitive market.
