Casadei’s spring ’17 collection is offering a whole lot of sexy. Sharing an exclusive sketch with Footwear News, the Italian label explored a vampy aesthetic for the season, taking inspiration from a vintage Steven Meisel portrait.
“The starting point of the collection is 1980s glam, infused with a sophisticated and contemporary aesthetic,” said designer Cesare Casadei.
“For our new Bustier sandal, I drew inspiration from Steven Meisel’s portrait of Linda Evangelista holding a bustier,” he said. “The result is the knee-high gladiator sandal in a monochrome nude tone, with laser-cut nappa leather straps.”

Casadei will likely introduce new interpretations of its iconic Blade heel for spring, a style that has seen tremendous success with celebrities. This month, Jennifer Lopez wore an all-white version of the Blade to perform on the “Today” show in New York.
Last season, the label introduced a 1970s inspiration via suede platforms — think deep purples and neutral tans — and velvet thigh-high boots.
