Designer Brian Atwood channeled an art vibe for his resort ’17 collection — from Jeff Koons to Yayoi Kusama. “I was inspired by the most brightly colored artist movement,” Atwood told FN. “I extracted the abstract feeling from pop art and gave it a color explosion.” The bold hue choices certainly show. “This collection has a more playful and fun feel,” he said. Here is a sneak peek at the upcoming line.
“I loved all the colored studs and Cabouchon gems that I have been seeing, and for sure included them in my collection.”
“I love Jeff Koons’ use of chromed colors in sculptures.”
“[I was drawn to] Yayoi Kusama for her minimalist view and her use of polka dots.”
“I looked to Memphis Group furniture [from the 1980s] for colors and shapes.”
“Sonia Delaunay’s use of geometric shapes and colors [was an influence].”
