The shoes: Eccentric embellishment and exuberant proportions were on Alessandra Lanvin’s mind for fall: David Bowie-inspired starry-soled flatforms, feather fringed stilettos, loafer boots with stretch leather shafts and a series of pert zigzag bowed styles in patent. There were also fur-covered comfort sandals in collaboration with a Ukrainian designer. “These are great for parties at home,” Lanvin quipped.
The verdict: The collection certainly had some clear highlights but jumped around a little too much from whim to whim. Lanvin is at her best when she focuses on pushing those new and interesting shapes she used to built her brand.
