If you love a black-and-white colorway, Alexandre Birman’s pre fall ’16 collection is for you. The designer offered a mostly colorless footwear assortment this season, with new silhouettes in addition to signature styles like the Clarita sandal.
Birman played with embossed textures for pre-fall, using it as an accent or all-over treatment. One standout new style was a pointy-toe slingback pump witha bit of the snakeskin on the heel and midsole.

There was a certain push-and-pull between girly and masculine this season. Feminine styles prevailed via stiletto boots and sandals, while more boyish shoes included laceup ankle boots and pointy loafers.
Birman’s signature styles came back in new colorways as well. The Clarita wrap-tie sandal was done in black-and-white, while a suede cage bootie matched the rest of the collection’s monochromatic look.

Compared with the designer’s spring ’16 collection, this season’s tone was decidedly darker (which, seasonally, is a smart choice). Still, we wish a few of the styles had had more color pops.
