Buzzy shoe reissues are no longer just reserved for sneakerheads. To wit, Isabel Marant has teamed up with Net-a-porter.com to bring back two sought-after boot styles from her fall 2009 collection, the season where she truly broke out from Parisian insider designer to the global “undone chic” powerhouse brand she is today.
On Sept. 5, the online retailer will be offering the “Otway” conical heel bootie with nail head studding and “Soon” chain-wrapped suede style on its site, allowing customers to bypass eBay and other resellers, where they can fetch thousands for deadstock and used versions. Prices for on Net-a-porter.com start at $1,180.
The site’s fashion director, Lisa Aiken, notes that the boots sold out immediately when they first launched and is confident they are still relevant now. “Isabel Marant has a talent for designing pieces that have an irreverent, effortless style that seemingly manage to update everything in your wardrobe,” she tells Footwear News.
“These boots epitomize why women are so drawn to her signature styles. Since their original launch, we’ve noticed that both styles have become cult pieces that women scour the internet for to this day. It became apparent that the demand for these covetable styles was still huge so we approached Isabel Marant to see if she would partner with us on an exclusive capsule.”
Considering that the collection as a whole still looks current seven years later, chances are the shoes will again be a hot ticket.
