Rihanna brought it back to 2014 in her music video for “Goodnight Gotham.”
In the clip, released over the weekend, Rihanna is seen headed to Trocadero Square in Paris about to do the “craziest thing she’s ever done.” Wearing a fur coat and a jumpsuit from Christian Dior’s fall ’14 couture collection, the singer exits her car and is captured running into the arms of screaming fans. Rihanna is then hoisted in the air while a massive crowd surrounds her.
Rihanna’s shoes make quite the statement in the video as the material is reflected from the camera lighting. At the time, she opted for the limited-edition Timberland 6 Inch Black Reflective Boot, which was exclusively available at DTLR.
The event made headlines on Dec. 18, 2014, when hundreds gathered near the Eiffel Tour after Rihanna, via social media, asked fans to meet her to film a video sequence that would be used for her upcoming eighth album. Little did they know it was for her newest music video.
The song, just over a minute long, samples Florence + the Machine’s “Only If For a Night.”

Rihanna, who is on the European leg of her Anti World Tour, made a quick pit stop in Toronto on Sunday night to join Drake onstage for OVO Fest. The two performed their hit collaborations “Work” and “Too Good” — with Rihanna standing out in her Vetements x Manolo Blahnik orange thigh-high boots from the Vetements fall ’16 couture collection.
