Which designers ruled the red carpet? The big names dominated again this year: Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo and Stuart Weitzman.
Another notable trend: Earlier this season, we saw the stars gravitating to a new Choo style called Pearl, and last night was definitely a continuation of the platform style’s dominance.
Diane Kruger, Sarah Hyland, Elizabeth Banks, Reese Witherspoon, Olivia Munn and Isla Fisher all wore the shoe.
At the after-parties, it was all about Brian Atwood’s Tribeca platform, which is arguably the go-to for many of these events because it just goes with everything. Kate Hudson, Emily Ratajkowski, Amy Adams, Jessica Alba and Brittany Snow all wore the Tribeca platform.
Sometimes it’s more than the sheer number of placements, though, and it’s all about who wears the shoes. Such was the case for the 2014 awards season with Lupita Nyong’o, who rocked everything from Prada to Paul Andrew. She was hotly sought-after as the red-carpet darling of the season; it was exciting to see what she and her stylist Michaela Erlanger settled on.
Last night, some of those exciting placements included Monique Lhuillier’s standout style on Priyanka Chopra, who was trending all night in her Zuhair Murad dress.
Converse sneakers (yep, you read that right), Gucci and Roger Vivier all got a boost from Best Actress winner Brie Larson.
Another big win was for Louis Vuitton, who outfitted the “Belle” of the ball, Alicia Vikander. Vikander’s dress trended for its similarities to a certain Disney princess from “Beauty and the Beast,” and the shoes certainly got their moment in the sun, too.
