According to a statement from her representative to E! News, sometime on Sunday night or into the early hours of Monday, Kardashian West “was held up at gunpoint inside her Paris hotel room.” The suspects were “two armed masked men dressed as police officers,” said the representative, adding that Kardashian West is “badly shaken but physically unharmed.”
The “Today” show reports that according to a Paris judicial source, at least two masked gunmen tied her up and locked her in the bathroom of her luxury hotel room and stole an estimated $10 million in jewelry. Some outlets are reporting that the men stole one of Kardashian West’s rings, worth an estimated $4.49 million.
Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo spoke out against the incident, saying that Kardashian West is always welcome in Paris. Kardashian West’s husband, Kanye West, was performing in New York at the Meadows Festival when he abruptly stopped the concert, telling the audience, “I’m sorry, there’s a family emergency. I have to stop the show,” and quickly left the stage.
According to multiple reports, Kardashian West’s children, North and Saint, and her sisters Kendall Jenner and Kourtney Kardashian were not in the room at the time of the incident. Kardashian West has apparently already left Paris after speaking with police.
Kardashian West had another dramatic encounter last week when a serial prankster lunged at her as she walked into a Paris restaurant, attempting to kiss her behind, but was knocked to the ground by her bodyguard.
