On the series finale of “American Idol” on Thursday night, things came full circle for country star Carrie Underwood. The cowboy boots-wearing girl who won the show in 2005 was certainly not the same person who belted out her hits onstage during the final show.

Underwood hit the red carpet in a sexy, sheer Yanina Couture dress and Rene Caovilla heels. When she took to the stage, she wore a Monique Lhuillier gown with sparkly cut-out sandals, as well as a miniskirt-and-shirt ensemble with gladiator-style sandals. It’s clear that Underwood has become incredibly confident when it comes to her fashion choices.

Despite her questionable fashion choices during the mid-2000s (we all had them, right?), Underwood has always been something of a shoe lover. At the 2007 American Music Awards, Underwood donned a pair of Rene Caovilla’s Snake Seduction wrap sandals.

Through the years we’ve seen her rock styles by Giuseppe Zanotti, Jimmy Choo, Stuart Weitzman and others.
At the 2014 Billboard Music Awards, Underwood wore a Jill Stuart gown with Zanotti sandals adorned with a gold crocodile.
