While the Victoria’s Secret Angels strutted down the runway during its Paris fashion show (which aired Monday on CBS), Bruno Mars also channeled his inner model. Skipping out on the custom Brian Atwood shoes made for the VS models, the singer quite literally stepped up his shoe style, sporting a pair of heeled Christian Louboutin boots.
Mars paired the 3-inch heel with a fur coat, tuxedo and sunglasses for his performance of “Chunky” and “24K Magic,” both off his latest album, “24K Magic.” Lady Gaga and the Weeknd also performed during the televised event, which was recorded last week.
Mars certainly brought confidence to the stage in the pair of men’s heels, and he isn’t the first to do so. This trend has been on the rise, and it looks as though it will continue.
Balenciaga presented its first men’s runway show at Paris Fashion Week for spring ’17, and new creative director Demna Gvasalia debuted a variety of men’s heels in the latest collection. Luxury brands such as Saint Laurent, Christian Louboutin, Givenchy, Haider Ackermann and Maison Margiela all have added to the trend as well.
And while the fashion industry has seemed to accept men’s heels, some fans of the VS Fashion Show couldn’t help but sound off on the pop star’s shoes.
