Beyoncé loves her some Givenchy. For the past four Met Gala red carpets in New York, the singer has worn the label head to toe — and more often than not, she’s topped the best-dressed lists. Who could forget last year’s nude dress with strategic crystal appliqué? Or the dramatic thigh-high boots she wore in 2013?
Considering Beyoncé has virtually every designer at her disposal, it’s interesting to see her continuously favor the French fashion house (helmed by Riccardo Tisci, her close friend). But this year, all bets are off. She could also wear Balmain, Roberto Cavalli or DSquared2, all of whom custom-designed outfits for her Formation World Tour.
Let’s revisit some of her top Givenchy looks below:
For the past two years, Beyoncé has opted for floor-length gowns embellished with crystals. She paired the looks with Givenchy’s ankle-strap platforms with pin-thin heels. For the Met Gala’s 2013 punk theme, though, she went for a bolder footwear message: Givenchy’s printed thigh-high boots. Talk about a red-carpet moment.
Keeping the 2016 Met Gala’s theme in mind — the event is called “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology” — we’re betting Beyoncé will, once again, wear Givenchy on the red carpet. The label often has an element of futurism in its collections, especially in the footwear, so it would certainly be on message.
