Rockport is in a giving state of mind. Today, the Canton, Mass.-based company announced it will donate $10,000 to the Two Ten Footwear Foundation.
The funds were the result of a challenge Rockport presented to its employees and attendees at this month’s FN Platform show. As part of the kickoff to the August launch of its “Made for Movers” global brand repositioning, the company challenged the two groups to reach a combined 1 million steps while at the Las Vegas show.
“Rockport’s ‘Made for Movers’ campaign is extraordinary and very timely,” said Neal Newman, president of Two Ten. “Right now, hundreds of shoe people are struggling to recover from the destructive floods in Louisiana and horrific wildfires in California. We will use Rockport’s generous donation of $10,000 to provide emergency support to our footwear colleagues in these areas who are picking up the pieces and moving forward with their lives.”
Participants tracked their steps via a Fitbit Flex while they moved around the show, with the step counts and leader board shown on display at Rockport’s booth.
“Rockport’s 1 million steps challenge was a first for us at FN Platform,” said Leslie Gallin, president of FN Platform. “We are true ‘movers’ here and were thrilled to participate. Together as an industry, we were able to support the incredible organization and worthy cause of Two Ten.”
