The 20,000-sq.-ft. space opened today, with a special morning event for the media and guests. The opening coincides with the brand’s 75th anniversary.
“Coach is an amazing story, and holistically, [Coach House] tells the fullest description of the brand,” CEO Victor Luis told Footwear News. “In 75 years, to finally open our fullest statement and our largest store is a dream come true.”
The store was designed by creative director Stuart Vevers and features bespoke furniture, a custom workshop and a made-to-order station for handbags. Plus, the spot celebrates some creative partnerships, such as a 12-foot sculpture of Coach’s dinosaur, Rexy, who was designed by artist Billie Achilleos and crafted using more than 400 Coach handbags and hardware.
Coach House features the brand’s full product line, including footwear, which is now designed by Stuart Vevers. “Stuart is constantly inspired by our archives,” said Luis. “He’s not just launching archives, but he’s modernizing them. It’s that constant reimagination that’s the power of creativity.”
At the event, the label also announced a $3 million grant to nonprofit Step Up. The donation is an initiative of the Coach Foundation, which launched in 2008 with the goal of assisting a number of charitable causes. Step Up is an organization that inspires young girls to achieve their dreams.
“What excites me the most is the fact that as a company, we have a purpose to stay true to our values and the opportunity to help others find their fullest expression of what’s inside them,” said Luis. “I’m incredibly proud we’re able to do that.”
