Finish Line Taps Former Nordstrom Exec John Hall For EVP & Merchandising Chief

The Finish Line Inc. announced today that longtime Nordstrom executive John Hall will join the company in mid-May as EVP, divisional president and chief merchandising officer. Hall most recently served as VP and corporate merchandiser of Rack Menswear.

We’re thrilled to have John join Finish Line. He will play a pivotal role as we continue to strengthen consumer engagement and enhance our merchandise offering and brand storytelling,” said Sam Sato, Finish Line’s CEO, in a release issued today. “John’s focus and drive to elevate the consumer experience are critical today when the customer — and how he or she accesses us — is evolving so rapidly.”

According to Finish Line, Hall’s focus will span across consumer engagement touch points including stores and digital operations, merchandising and strategies involving the company’s product vision. He will also help drive the retailer’s growth strategies, working closely with brand partners and leading the company’s vision.

Hall spent almost 30 years at Nordstrom, where he started as a sales associate in shoes and was promoted to men’s shoes buyer. He went on to serve as VP/national merchandise manager of men’s shoes and VP/footwear brand manager for the Nordstrom Product Group. He also held the post of VP and corporate merchandise manager for kid’s shoes.

Before joining Finish Line in 2007, current CEO Sato had also spent 22 years at Nordstrom, serving in several executive roles.
