The U.S. arm of popular British footwear brand Dr. Martens has a new leader.
Leslie Lane, CEO of sports-lifestyle brand Dakine Inc., will take the reins as president of Dr. Martens U.S. and Americas, responsible for managing Dr. Martens business in that region, effective Jan. 28, 2016.
“We are thrilled to have appointed a seasoned executive with Leslie’s broad experience into this critical role. It was important to us that we found someone who combines genuine passion for our unique brand with a deep understanding of the region and markets to be able to maximize the opportunity Dr. Martens has in the U.S. and the Americas region,” said Steve Murray, CEO of Dr. Martens’ parent company, Airwair International Ltd., in a release. “It’s no accident that the person we chose has driven so many high-level, consumer-focused strategic brand initiatives in his career, and we look forward to Leslie joining the global team.”
Lane’s footwear experience includes eight years at Nike Inc. in a variety of executive positions, including VP and GM of Nike Running, director of strategy and finance, and global footwear and director for Nike Subsidiaries.
“I am excited to have the opportunity to work for a brand that I have loved since my time growing up in England and have worn for nearly 40 years, and to be able to work with such a talented and passionate group of individuals both in the Americas and the U.S. region and around the world,” Lane said in a release.
Lane will be based in Portland, Ore. His new position was previously held by Bob Bradford.
