FN caught up with the superstar stylist-turned-designer to find out what trends she’s loving — and loathing — this season, and what you need to buy now. Take a look.
Do you have a key footwear style for the season?
I’m loving over-the-knee boots — heeled and flat, suede and leather.
Top tip for what shoes to buy this winter?
I think a sexy pump is timeless and always a style worth investing in. It’s always sleek and polished, and I love how they can transform any look from day to night or casual to sophisticated — simply try them with a pair of peg-leg trousers and a leather jacket or a leather pencil skirt and oversized slouchy sweater.
What’s the trend you wish would go away?
Sneakers being accepted as appropriate evening wear.
Do you have any style icons?
Brigitte Bardot in the ’60s & ’70s will always be someone I look to for style inspiration, and Diane von Furstenberg is simply brilliant.
What’s coming up for spring?
For spring, I’m really excited for soft metallics and a neutral color palette, and oversized zipper and buckle details.
