Career Advice From eDrop-Off’s Corri McFadden

Entrepreneur Corri McFadden launched her luxury-consignment service, eDrop-Off, a decade ago, and since then has become a fashion and lifestyle tastemaker in Chicago. McFadden’s eDrop-Off debuted a second store location last year and counts 2,000 consignment treasures a day, ranging from vintage Chanel to Louis Vuitton.

McFadden, who also hosts a weekly style segment on Chicago’s “You and Me This Morning,” is a regular contributor to Fox News and online at Elizabeth Street and MSN and starred in the VH1 reality series “House of Consignment.”

FN caught up with the McFadden and to get her tips for a successful career:

My first job taught me: “Your first job will most likely not be your dream job. It is important to put yourself into different environments to identify your personal strengths and weaknesses and create value for your employer.”

Why it’s important to take risks: “Whatever you do, don’t become complacent — this is not going to help your business expand or grow!”

Top tip for leading a team: “Lead by example — your team is a direct reflection of you.”

Best way to build your team: “Surround yourself with people who are go-getters and not just dreamers.”

Greatest advice you’ve ever received: “Never let a problem you are facing become bigger than you. Put on your armor and fight through!”

Lesson learned in 2014: “Competition will motivate you to think outside the box.”
