Charlotte Olympia Dellal always knows how to make a statement. The designer arrived at The Goring Hotel yesterday in two of her favorite looks from her fall ’15 collection: clever marble pumps playing up her “A World of Interiors” theme and an embroidered tote bag celebrating her love of Dutch artist Kees Van Dongen. (She also wore a sticker given to her that morning by one of her sons.)
The mother of three, who juggles a frenetic schedule at work and at home, had returned to London from Milan a few days earlier after unveiling her collection there for the first time. While she’s not holding a full presentation in Paris this season, she will celebrate the fall offering with an intimate dinner in the City of Light on Saturday.
Later this spring, Dellal will head across the pond to mark two major store openings, at The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and in South Coast Plaza Mall in Costa Mesa, Calif. She also is debuting a store on Brompton Cross in London and another one in Bangkok, moves that will bring her total store count to 10.
“I’ve only been to Vegas once when I was 21. We had so many girls packed into one hotel room,” she recalled of her first Sin City excursion. This time around, Dellal’s travel companion will be her father, Guy Dellal.
Back in London, the designer enjoyed a screening of “Psycho” this week, complete with a live musical performance. “It was amazing,” she said, noting that the Hitchcock movies are favorites in her family.
