Last week, Footwear News reported on a leak of the Balmain x H&M collection that appeared on Instagram. A woman in Chicago, Kathryn Swarz Rees, may have debuted the highly anticipated collection on her Instagram account.
In an interview with The Cut, Rees said, “H&M’s site was indexed by Google and I happened to search at the right time using the right parameters.” The site was quickly taken down as were the photos on Swartz’s account, but we managed to grab some shots before they disappeared.
Now the lookbook has been officially revealed and Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing is sharing his thoughts on the collection on his own Instagram account and H&M’s account.
Back in May, we reported that the collection would hit stores Nov. 5. At the Billboard Music Awards that month, models Jourdan Dunn and Kendall Jenner wore head-to-toe looks from the collection, including thigh-high stiletto boots. Jenner sported a long pearl-embellished jacket, seen below on Instagram today.
Rees’s Instagram revealed other shoe styles including peep-toe embellished booties and a pair of strappy rope sandals.
Balmain and H&M certainly know how to sustain the suspense and there’s no doubt there will be incredibly long lines when the collection becomes available.
