Melissa Rycroft Talks Shoe-Shopping Habits

Melissa Rycroft, a “Good Morning America” contributor and former contestant on “The Bachelor,” shares some of her favorite on- and off-camera footwear styles. Note: Comfort is key for this on-the-go mom of two.

Pairs owned: 50

Brands: Aldo, Jessica Simpson, Michael Kors, Steve Madden, Sam Edelman, Ugg Australia, among others

Best everyday look: “If I have my two kids with me, I’m in my Ugg Classic boots in tan. I can wear them with everything.”

Most comfortable shoes: “Ugg. I have several styles: Classic Tall, Cardy Classic Knit, Mini Bailey Button. It’s hard to beat their comfort and versatility.”

Least comfortable: “I can’t wear ballet flats. I have an adorable pair of blue snakeskin Michael Kors ballet flats. They were a splurge for me at $90. I tried to wear them on vacation, but they tore my feet up.”

Biggest footwear indulgence: “I have a hard time spending a lot on shoes since I can find some great no-name styles that are just as wonderful. I did give in and buy a pair of Stuart Weitzman shoes I saw on ‘Sex and the City.’ When I [noticed] them on display at Nordstrom, I had to buy them. I’ve still never worn them.”

Favorite store: “I’m late to the party, but I’ve recently gotten into Shoedazzle and JustFab. [I like] the variety, and for the price, they’re pretty great.”

Shoe-shopping companion: “I like to go by myself — take my time, try shoes on, then walk around in them for a bit.”

Sexiest pair: “Red pointy-toe pumps from Aldo. They’re pretty hot. I’ve probably over-worn
them, especially to events. But they’re great and seem to go with
everything.”

Best travel shoes: “I have a pair of Rocket Dog Western ankle boots. I love them. They’re so easy to pack because they don’t take up much room, and they go with everything, from jeans and leggings to shorts and dresses.”

On-air footwear: “I stay away from anything with a heel higher than 4 inches. No one looks pretty walking on stilts. It makes you look clumsy, and there’s a high chance of losing your balance when the heel gets too high or thin.”

Favorite kids’ brands: “My son, Beckett, is mainly in Robeez. They’re the only baby shoes that stay on his feet. With all the colors, I’ve got some to match every outfit. My daughter, Ava, wears Skechers and Stride Rite. She’s really into sparkles and shoes that light up. And, of course, pink.”

Shoe envy: “I have a good friend who’s a fan of [Christian Louboutin] shoes, and her collection’s unbelievable. I can’t bring myself to spend that much money on a pair of shoes, but they’re pretty.”
