The romance of Italy is at the heart of the new women’s collection Valentina Rangoni. The eponymous brand, debuting for fall ’15, aims for the following trifecta: modern, feminine and luxury.
But family legacy comes first: Company namesake Valentina is a third-generation member of the family behind Rangoni America Corp., which has produced the Amalfi brand since 1937.
Graduating in March from the University of Florence, Valentina Rangoni is initially taking a backseat on the design of the line, letting experts such as her father, Niccolo, develop the new concept.
“This is a feminine label targeted at the woman who is looking for original product with a twist,” said Niccolo Rangoni, president and CEO of Rangoni America. “It directly reflects the updated lifestyle in which she lives. The styling is distinguished by the use of very special materials and color combinations and is unique and different from the overexposed looks from the big international brands.”
The debut collection consists of a variety of styles, including biker boots in glitter, a leopard-print flat, an open-vamp laceless pump, plus Western and athletic retro influences. All of the shoes will be made in Italy.
“Italy adds to the history of our factories — and not a lot of companies can tout that,” said company GM Randy Paddock. “Italy brings a little sex appeal to the story.”
The line targets a mix of independents and department stores. Arthur Beren Shoes in San Francisco has signed on, and the label hopes to make its way to Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom. The collection will show at FN Platform in Las Vegas later this month.
