Whether a shopper is buying a pair of practical pumps from Payless or sexy stilettos from Manolo Blahnik, torn or scuffed heels often relegate the shoes to the back of the closet.
That’s were entrepreneurs Anabel Pinto and her business partner step in with their Bleenk, new line of heel protectors — easy-to-use heel coverings for high heels that not only protect them from everyday wear and tear but can add a splash of bling through a wide range of colors and materials.
The Portugal-based company is already selling its novelty shoe accessory in Russia and Japan. They are currently available for sale in the U.S. through Bleenk.pt. The coverings average about $16.50 a pair.
Included in the offering are four collections: Partee, with metallics suited for dressier looks; Artee, a selection of street-inspired styles featuring graffiti and rainbow effects; Funkee, with strong solid colors; and Smartee, a more basic palette.
The protectors are available in four sizes to accommodate a wide range of heels and are available in materials that include brass and leather.
Pinto notes that just about every woman has experienced damaged heels, making Bleenks a democratic fashion product. “They’re also a way to express one’s fashion personality and have some fun,” she said.
