Accessories Council Preps For First-Ever New York Summit

The Accessories Council is bringing a group of power players, including Ivanka Trump and Paul Andrew, together for its first-ever Accessories Council Summit.

The event takes place this Monday at LIM College in New York. The NPD Group, WWD and LIM College are partners in the event, which is designed to educate attendees on the shifting fashion, retail and media landscape.

“The Accessories Council organized the event to shine a light on the unprecedented rate of change in our industry. In the past few years, we have witnessed seismic shifts in the way we sell,  what we sell, where we sell it, as well as the way we promote and communicate brand messages,” said Karen Giberson, president of the Accessories Council. “At no point in our history have we seen such a rapidly evolving marketplace.”

Highlights will include a presentation by designer and entrepreneur Ivanka Trump as well as a panel led by Ariel Foxman, editorial director at InStyle and Stylewatch, featuring shoe designer Paul Andrew.

Jodie Fox, co-founder and chief creative officer at Shoes of Prey, will participate in a panel about acquiring and retaining talent. Another session on costume design will feature costumers from “The Good Wife,” “Girls” and “Orange is the New Black.”

The summit comes to a close with a toast to 2015 Accessories Council Hall of Fame honoree Ed Jankowski, who leads Luxottica’s North American luxury division.
