Nanette Lepore Inks Footwear Deal With Vida Shoes

Vida Shoes International Inc. is venturing into the affordable luxury market through a new licensing deal with Nanette Lepore. The New York-based designer, who sold a majority stake in her brand to Bluestar Alliance LLC in January, previously worked with Peter Marcus Group on shoes.

The new collection with Vida, set to launch in June at FFANY, will take cues from the brand’s whimsical, trendy aesthetic.

“Footwear is a huge step toward the growth and expansion of the Nanette Lepore brand, and we are very excited to have Vida Shoes on board,” said Ralph Gindi, COO of Bluestar Alliance, in a statement. “With Vida’s longstanding reputation for design and execution, Vida will produce quality pieces that the Nanette Lepore woman is accustomed to.”

Gabe Safdeye, VP of Vida International, added, “Nanette Lepore is a great brand that is beloved by her customers for her unique aesthetic. It is a great complement to the [labels] we offer at Vida, and we look forward to adding a great fashion brand to the footwear market.”

In 2013, Vida acquired Andre Assous and has licensing deals with names ranging from Pastry and XOXO to OshKosh and Carter’s.
