WNBA Star Maya Moore Heads Toward Postseason, Releases Own Air Jordan 1

The WNBA regular season is heading into its last week and the Minnesota Lynx, led by reigning MVP Maya Moore are sitting atop the Western Conference standings with a record of 18-8. Despite their loss on Wednesday to the Washington Mystics, the team is looking to take back the WNBA Championship title, which they won in 2013. The same year Moore was the league MVP.

Aside from winning games, Moore is also looking to inspire girls. At the end of July, Moore released her own Air Jordan 1 Retro sneakers in her own signature colors of blue, gold, and magenta.

The girls’ sneakers come in sizes 3.5-11, allowing both girls and women to wear them. Moore joins sprinter April Holmes as the only women that are a part of “Team Jordan,” which includes the likes of Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony among others.

Prior to joining the Minnesota Lynx, Moore played for the University of Connecticut Huskies, leading the team to two undefeated NCAA Championship seasons in 2009 and 2010.

At the time of the release, ESPN reporter Holly Rowe tweeted her support for Moore.
