Baltimore-based Under Armour has expanded its operation to Austin, Texas, with today’s opening of its Connected Fitness digital headquarters.
The office — the first of its kind for the company — is dedicated solely to the company’s focus on digital innovation in health and fitness.
“In the last six months, we more than doubled the size of our Connected Fitness team,” said Robin Thurston, chief digital officer of Under Armour, in a statement. “[Our brand’s trajectory] in the digital space is unprecedented, and we’re building the most equipped and talented team to deliver products that will change lives everywhere through health and fitness technology.”
The 35,000-square-foot downtown Austin office is currently home to more than 100 engineers, data scientists, designers and product innovators in digital health, fitness and sports. Under Armour expects that number to grow exponentially by year’s end.

With the new office comes a new focus on Under Armour’s digital products. The Connected Fitness platform powers the brand’s popular applications — used by 120 million people worldwide — including its 2015 acquisitions Endomondo, MyFitnessPal and MapMyFitness (acquired by the company in 2013), plus UA Record.
“The talent we have secured and on-boarded is monumental, and our Connected Fitness team is poised to advance the entire landscape of the technology industry,” Thurston said in a statement.
