Serena Williams To Play Venus Williams At US Open

The Williams sisters will square off once again tonight at the US Open, in an evening match at Arthur Ashe Stadium. Serena and Venus Williams faced each other at Wimbledon earlier this summer, with Serena winning the day. For tonight’s matchup, the stakes are quite a bit higher.

Younger sister Serena is vying to be the first player in 27 years to win a calendar-year Grand Slam. (Steffi Graf was the last athlete, male or female, to claim that achievement.) If she wins tonight, Serena will be two matches away from joining the record books.

What are the chances Serena will repeat her Wimbledon victory? In their 26 career meetings on the court, the sisters, who are both sponsored by Nike, have been pretty even competitors: Serena has won 15 of the matches, versus Venus’ 11. But recently, 33-year-old Serena has been the more dominant force, winning seven of her last eight matches against 35-year-old Venus.

Both sisters have been looking strong in their 2015 US Open performances, though. On Sunday, Serena handily defeated American athlete Madison Keys in two sets, 6-3, 6-3. And Venus quickly beat Estonian player Anett Kontaveit, 6-2, 6-1, in a match that lasted only 50 minutes.

Off the court, Serena has been looking pretty confident, too. On Labor Day, she was seen out on the town in New York with Kim Kardashian West, sporting Nike high-top wedge sneakers with her form-fitting skirt and top.

The fashion-loving tennis star has a habit of mixing sporty shoes into her glamorous wardrobe, which also includes plenty of high-heel booties and pumps. Her sister Venus, meanwhile, tends to prefer flat sandals and chic ballet styles.
