Puma hosted an event Thursday night in downtown NYC to present their spring ’15 collection. The line, from lifestyle to performance, boasts classic silhouettes reimagined as well as new performance releases and collaborations for fans of the German-based brand.
“The major trends from a lifestyle standpoint are our iconic silhouettes mixed with fashion. On the performance side, it’s all about our technologies, making them relevant to the season,” said Tara McRae, SVP of brand and marketing for Puma.
McRae said the brand’s Suede Classic is one of the most popular silhouettes for the season for men, women and kids. For men’s lifestyle, the typically clean shoe will have a paint splatter effect throughout the upper with the Suede Classic Splattered and Suede Classic Allover Splatter.
While the Suede is the season’s most popular style, for women specifically, the most popular lifestyle silhouette is the Match, which comes in both canvas and leather.
Puma updated its performance footwear for the season to match the climate athletes wearing its products will encounter by utilizing its PWRcool thermoregulation technology. The temperature-regulating material designed to keep the athlete’s feet cool while training was used for the Ignite and Pulse XT models, the training shoes used by Julian Edelman of the New England Patriots and Jamaal Charles of the Kansas City Chiefs.
At the showcase were silhouettes boasting the brand’s 1990’s cushioning technology, Trinomic, seen in the Blaze of Glory and R698 silhouettes. Puma also had its second-generation collaboration with retailer Alife on display, including the Alife logo all-over print Suede Mid and the Blaze of Glory.
