Puma-endorsed Rickie Fowler came out victorious in a three-man playoff at the TPC Sawgrass on Sunday. The win was Fowler’s first in three years, last winning the Wells Fargo Championship in May 2012.
The ninth world ranked golf pro – who was ranked 13th before Sunday’s win – took the course wearing a special Mother’s Day colorway of the brand’s TitanTour, a pink and white silhouette that boasts the brand’s temperature-regulating Outlast technology and Shapelock memory foam.
The victory didn’t come easy for the golfer sponsored by the German-based brand. Fowler came back from a 5-shot deficit with six holes remaining to force a playoff with seventh-ranked Sergio Garcia and 66th-ranked Kevin Kisner. After Garcia was eliminated before the final playoff hole when he missed a 19-foot birdie, Fowler hit a birdie putt in the fourth playoff hole – the 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass – to take down Kisner.
But ending the event hoisting the trophy in front of photographers, golf pros and onlookers wasn’t the best or most memorable part of the former PGA Tour Rookie of the Year’s night. Fowler was greeted after winning the playoff on the course with a kiss by model girlfriend Alexis Randock.
