Nike To Drop Liquid Chrome Soccer Cleats & Turf Shoes

Nike is continuing its push in soccer with the upcoming release of its Liquid Chrome pack, a collection of cleats and turf shoes built for tough play on the pitch with a metallic makeover and a look certain to catch eyes.

“We wanted to create something that looks immovable — as if made of metal — but comes to life in motion,” said Emma Jobe, color lead for Nike Football, in a statement. “Light reflects off the boot when it comes in contact with the ball and produces almost a crumpling effect.”

The collection features four of the brand’s celebrated soccer shoes with updated names to match the color palette used: the Red Bronze Hypervenom, the Urban Lilac Mercurial, the Metallic Pewter Magista and the Tiempo Legend 6 Pure Platinum. The collection will be available Nov. 30 via the Nike Football App and on Dec. 2 via nike.com.

“Metallics are inherently slippery, which is problematic in a sport where the color is in constant contact with the ball,” Jobe said. “It took close collaboration with our materials team to craft colorways that live up to our strict performance standards. We knew this was a look our players were drawn to, but we weren’t going to do it if we couldn’t do it right. These boots look amazing without any compromise.”
