The shoe will launch exclusively at NikeLab LNZ1 Milan on April 14, with a worldwide release this summer at NikeLab locations and the NikeLab online store.
The shoe boasts a Flyknit upper and a translucent rubber casing that takes over the midsole and outsole (a nod to Bryant’s transparency and openness). The shoe will be available in three colorways: black, white, and multicolored yarn.
The low-cut Kobe X boasts a number of Nike’s latest technological innovations. The shoe — a collaboration between NikePresident and CEO Mark Parker, VP of Creative Concepts Tinker Hatfield and Fragment Design founder Hiroshi Fujiwara — features a hybrid cushioning system that combines Nike Lunarlon cushioning with Nike Zoom Air and Nike Free-inspired siping. It also features natural movement-enabling Free-inspired flex grooves and an advanced traction system on the outsole with hundreds of court-gripping “nodules.”
Paying further attention to detail, the trio added two sets of aglets, with a metallic finish and HTM lettering that screws onto the laces, HTM lettering along the back tab of the shoe and a silicone-printed Kobe logo on the sock liner.
