With the brand’s iconic Air Max 95 silhouette turning 20, Nike is set to release two reimagined editions of the shoe, with completely different versions for men and women.
The Air Max 95 Ultra Jacquard for men and the Air Max 95 Ultra for women will be available Thursday, with retail prices of $185 and $125, respectively. Although the look of the shoes is new, they use the same black, anthracite, dark gray and volt original color palette as the original.
The Air Max 95 Ultra Jacquard, designed by Ben Yun, features a one-piece constructed upper with Flywire technology and a lightweight woven-jacquard, as well as vibrant neon accents on the eyelets, similar to the original.
The women’s Air Max 95 Ultra most resembles its original design of the two sneakers releasing Thursday. The upper boasts the pattern of the original upper, except reversed, with the light gray closest to the outsole and the black near the shoe’s tongue. Designed by Dylan Raasch, the creator of the Roshe One, the shoe features a minimalist design, as the forefoot visible air unit in the original shoe has been removed. The designer also opted to give the shoe a sleeker look with a lower profile than the original.
On July 2, Nike unveiled the story behind the making of the original Air Max 95, which divulged how some people at the company were skeptical about the design, which went on to become a sneakerhead favorite.
