This week, Under Armour-endorsed Stephen Curry took home the Kia NBA Most Valuable Player trophy. A tribute video was released to celebrate the star guard’s stellar season, with a limited edition MVP shoe coming soon.
Under Armour is set to release a limited edition colorway of Curry’s signature shoe, the Curry One, on June 13. The upper is a black-to-white gradient, with gold Under Armour logo on the side and Curry logo on the tongue. The outsole is predominantly white, with gold appearing towards the midsole and heel.
The video – edited by the Golden State Warriors’ digital media team’s Adam Mayo – highlights Curry’s unlikely path to becoming a superstar, from his college days of shocking major universities in the NCAA tournament while at Davidson College, to overcoming early injuries in the NBA to become one of the game’s most recognizable players.
For the 2014-15 season, Curry averaged 23.8 points and 7.7 assists per game, breaking his own single-season record for three-pointers made in a season in the process. Defensively, the guard averaged 2.04 steals per game.
Curry beat out James Harden of the Houston Rockets, LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder, and Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans for the award.
