No need to head to the gym or give up your favorite late-night snacks to feel light on your feet. MoonWalker shoes have developed a technology that mimics the feeling of walking on the moon. Launched this month on crowdfunding site Indiegogo.com, the company has a goal of raising $20,000 within 34 more days.
The collection features two futuristic unisex slip-0n styles — the 20:16 MoonWalker and 20:16 MoonWalker V2. The moon-walking feeling comes from two layers with powerful N45 Neodymium magnets strategically placed so that the north poles face — and repel —each other, leaving wearers feeling light on their feet.
The outer layer of the shoe is a smooth synthetic fabric in gray and white with a padded tongue and a memory foam footbed for enhanced comfort and support. The outsoles are made of textured rubber for slip resistance. The 20:16 V2 also employs technology that can be controlled using a smartphone app to connect to social media.
When the campaign is finished, participants will receive an email to register for a pair of shoes. Shipments are slated to begin in mid-August 2016, with additional information available on Moon Walker’s website.
