To celebrate Bruce Lee’s upcoming 75th birthday, West Coast-based retailer Bait has teamed up with Onitsuka Tiger and Bruce Lee Enterprises for the release of a shoe paying homage to the Kung Fu master.
The Onitsuka Tiger x Bait x Bruce Lee Enterprises Corsair “Jeet Kune Do” will be available on Nov. 27, Lee’s birthday, and retail for $120. The shoe will be sold at all seven Bait stores as well as its online store via an online raffle. In addition to the shoe, Bait will be selling an exclusive Bruce Lee Funko Pop figure and apparel capsule.
The shoe, inspired by the philosophy and martial arts technique of Lee, is made with black luxurious suede and navy premium leather, paying homage to the uniform worn by Lee and other Kung Fu masters. It features a dragon engraved on its upper, gold stamped kickman character and name on its heel, and Bruce Lee 75th Anniversary logo-branded insoles. The shoe comes with three laces options (black, navy, and white), which boast tips featuring Lee’s signature.
The Corsair silhouette, according to Bait, was selected as the proper medium to salute Lee because of its sleek low profile design, which is reminiscent of the Kung Fu slip-on Lee wore to defeat many of his foes.
To celebrate its release, Bait’s Melrose, Seattle, and San Francisco locations, as well as a popup shop in Hong Kong, will host a birthday party for Lee on Nov. 27 starting at 6 p.m., which will also be the home to an exhibit paying tribute to Lee’s life and accomplishments.
