An edition of the first Nike signature shoe for NBA icon Michael Jordan is set to hit stores this weekend in a colorway inspired by the team he played for before the shoe was originally released.
The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG Powder Blue arrives in stores Saturday and will retail for $160.
Before tearing up the competition in the pros as a member of the Chicago Bulls, Jordan was a standout at the University of North Carolina for the Tar Heels, the team that’s the inspiration for the new colorway.
The shoe’s premium leather upper is white and dark powder blue, boasting Jordan’s original winged branding in white stamped along a dark powder blue panel near its collar. In addition to the original winged branding, the shoe features Nike Air branding in dark powder blue on the top of a white tongue. Rounding out the shoe is a white midsole and dark powder blue outsole.
In addition to men’s sizing, the shoe will be available in kid’s sizes, from 3.5Y-7Y, with a retail price of $120.
To start the month, Jordan Brand unveiled its holiday collection, a line that boasts retro Air Jordan silhouettes including the Air Jordan 7 Sweater (inspired by the sweater worn during Jordan’s 1993 McDonald’s commercial with Larry Bird), the black-and-white Air Jordan 1 and the Air Jordan 11 72-10 (inspired by the 1995-96 Bulls team that went 72-10).
