The Yeezy Boost 350, rap superstar Kanye West’s second release with Adidas, lasted only bout 10 minutes on retailer’s shelves before selling out at storefront and online retailers throughout the country. The shoes can still be purchased — but with a much steeper price tag than its original retail cost of $200.
Resellers on eBay are asking as much as $10,000 for the limited-edition shoe. The cheapest starting bid on the consignment website was $200. The shoe was posted by seller shaun99si on Monday at 9:14 a.m. PST, and within 14 minutes, it had jumped to $406.12. The five-day auction ends on Saturday.
Other eBay sellers have taken a different approach. Instead of starting the bidding low, they’re asking for a much higher price for the coveted shoes. Sellers julus_s39zsash and singmealinefromyourfavoritesong posted the shoes on eBay with a $10,000 Buy it Now price.
Adidas took to Twitter on Saturday to announce that the shoes were available for purchase, and just 12 minutes later announced on the same social media network that they were sold out on its online store.
The shoe features an all-gray upper made of the brand’s Primeknit material and an all-white outsole that utilizes the brand’s energy-returning cushioning technology, Boost. The Yeezy 350 also has a white-with-red-accents heel tab and gray-knit laces that match the shoe’s upper.
